Budding Architects at New Community Corp. Charter School



Newark, October 12, 2010 – Sunshine Hall, a fourth grader at New Community Corporation’s New Horizons Community Charter School in Newark, explains how she and some schoolmates designed and then constructed a bridge out of popsicle sticks. Hall, a fourth grader, made the presentation during a visit to the downtown Newark firm of Woodridge Chen Architects. Standing to the left is Wilson Woodridge, co-principal in the firm with Weichi Chen. Students from the College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), under the direction of their professor, Sandy Moore, have been visiting the New Horizons students, teaching them the basics of architecture.
